Cheltenham resident announces candidacy for 2nd District

Chaka Fattah, who has served as U.S. Congressman for Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District for eight consecutive terms, got a Republican challenger for this year’s election Feb. 12. Mike Livingston, a professor of law at Rutgers University in Camden, announced his candidacy at 3 p.m. in front of the building that houses the Republican City Committee at 1700 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia. He is the only Republican seeking a nomination and has been endorsed by the Republican City Committee.

Livingston acknowledged that Fattah’s challengers have not historically been able to raise sufficient funds or votes in the past, but said the changing political climate will help his campaign. [Read More]
